PAUL LANZI

Paul Lanzi got his start in the tech industry in 1993 when he helped to start the first Internet Service Provider in the rural Northern California county where he grew up (as told, in part, in Kevin Savetz's book, Terrible Nerd). In roles that ranged from customer tech support to system administration and network engineering, the conviction that technology must be made to be an enabler, rather than a barrier, for all people first solidified during his time at Northcoast Internet.

That passion to deliver paradigm-changing technology to the people who need it found an accelerant in the computer science labs of UC Davis, where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Computer Science and a Minor in Communications. During a summer internship at SBC Services (now part of AT&T), Paul held his first IT Project Management role, working on local and national projects for the 'baby bell' telecom. IT Project and Program Management become a cornerstone of Paul's career path, and he earned his PMP certification while working at SBC. Paul later held a summer internship role in London, UK at SSAFA focused on rolling out information security solutions to the charity's employees.

Paul moved to San Francisco in 2005, taking his first role in the healthcare industry with an IT Project Management role at Posit Science. Continuing in IT Project Management roles, Paul worked at Genentech on deployments of validated (GxP/cGXP) solutions in the company's manufacturing environments. Later, Paul was the sole IT Security Project Manager, rolling out more than 20 IT Security solutions covering domains including desktop security, server administration, network optimization, privileged access, identity governance, access management and remote access. When Roche purchased Genentech in 2009, Paul assumed a leadership role in the IT administration function, running IT Procurement, IT Budgeting and Financial Management and contractor management, while also leading the IT PMO for the technology integration between the two companies. At the conclusion of the integration, Paul assumed a new role, leading Global Mobile for Roche -- including internal custom mobile app development, secure app distribution and secure mobile device management. Paul subsequently held a broadly similar role at Gilead Sciences.

In 2015, Tim Keeler and Paul Lanzi co-founded Remediant, a privilege-access focused startup that sought to solve the persistent issue of administrator over-privilege. Leveraging experiences working in Fortune 100 and Global 100 companies, Paul and Tim developed new technology to make the concept of Just In Time Administration (JIT/JITA) a reality -- at enterprise scale. Growing the company to 40+ employees and more than 50 customers, Remediant was acquired by Netwrix in December 2022 and continues as a core part of Netwrix's identity solution portfolio today.
